Thumb sucking, head lifting, and the incredible shrinking blanket

Alexander had his well-baby checkup today. After stripping him down for him to be weighed and measured, we pulled out the blanket we'd packed to wrap him in before taking him to the exam room.

The blanket was too small. Much, much too small. It looked like we were trying to swaddle him in a napkin.

Needless to say, Alex has grown some more. He weighed in at 15 pounds, 6 ounces. He's 23.5 inches long. His doctor is still very happy because Alexander's size is proportional and he's healthy, although he did suggest the baby cut back on the fries. All that saturated fat isn't good for his figure.

He had his shots today, two in one leg and one in the other, as well as an oral immunization. He screamed bloody murder ("It was the nurse in the vaccination room with the hypodermic needle"), then he was pretty calm after they were done, falling asleep on our way out to the car. He fussed a little in the car on the way home, but that was because he was hungry.

Imagine that. Our giant baby, hungry.

He's been holding his head up a lot lately, keeping it steady for quite a while.

You might notice in this photo that Darrick's sweater is inside out. He does this so that he can turn it right side out after Alex spits up on him.

Alexander has also discovered his thumb. Sorry about the lack of light in this video. I'm posting it despite the horrendous quality because he's just going to town on that thumb. Had to share.

Wearing my shirts inside out, why didn't I think of that? Brilliant! Brenna's a fan of sucking two fingers over the thumb for some reason, and sometimes her toes if she's on her back in her crib. Great posts, we love seeing your little one growing (and growing...)
